Denver Sports Omelette: Donald Cerrone offered to fill in for UFC 234 match with hours notice
Chalk it up to Cowboy just being Cowboy.
When it was announced Saturday that UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker had to pull out of the UFC 234 main event due to an injury, Colorado’s own Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone took to Twitter to offer his services against Kevin Gastelum with just hours to prepare: “Well I’m in Australia @danawhite ‘I know a guy!!’”

The UFC chose to pass on his offer. Cerrone had his moment at UFC 234, however, taking part in the Australian tradition of a “shoey” — drinking beer out of a shoe.

Cerrone, 35, is fresh off of a technical knockout win over Alexander Hernandez. Then he called out Conor McGregor, who gave a favorable response to the challenge.
